Islamabad, 23 Jan 2023: A grid failure in Pakistan on Monday at 07:34 AM, affected cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Islamabad.
According to the Pakistan Ministry of Energy, the grid frequency went down at 07:34 AM, affecting the whole economy. They tweeted that work of restoring grid stations is in progress from Warsak. The fault came from the transmission line from Guddu to Quetta that causing a reduction in the power frequency.
According to sources, Sindh, Punjab, and Islamabad were in the dark. The restoration process will take hours to fix the problem. A power outage happened a second time in the last four months, and Pak is already in an energy crisis which causes high energy costs.

What causes Power Outages in Pakistan?
According to IESCO, which provides electricity to Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal, 114 power grids have been suspended. 22 Districts of Balochistan were affected due to the outage. Millions of people were in the dark. Communications were stopped in some areas. Metro is also not working there, and people were facing issues reaching offices. According to the reports, it would take around 12 hours to fix the problem correctly.
