As per the reports, in this Bengaluru heist, a bus stand shelter situated at Cunningham Road area of Bengaluru with its steel worth Rs. 10 lakh vanished overnight.
After the complaint filed on 30 September by N Ravi Reddy, an associate vice-president of a company responsible for the construction of BMTC bus shelters in Bengaluru, police registered the case. The spot was just 1km from the Vidhana Soudhaand and was quite near to the office of the police commissioner. Police have started the investigation and are taking help from the nearest CCTV footage to get some assistance.
The bus stand was installed on 21 August 2023 and stolen entirely on 28 August 2023, just a week after the installation. Authorities were also unaware of the theft until a police report was filed.
A similar Bengaluru heist also happened in March, when a 3-decade-old bus stand from HRBR Layout vanished overnight. These type of disappearances are not new for Bengaluru as a lot of these type of incidents has been reported, such as the Doopanahalli bus stop near Horizon School disappearing in 2015 and a 20-year-old bus stand has vanished overnight from BEML Layout III Stage, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Bengaluru in 2014.
Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation officials have said that if the bus stand has been removed overnight, it can be done only by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.
