Five hundred days have passed since the Russia-Ukraine war started, killing over 9,000 civilians.
Russia-Ukraine War Reached 500 Days
HRMS – Human Rights Monitoring Mission of the UN in Ukraine has confirmed that more than 9000 civilians, which includes over 500 children, have been killed since the Russians invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022. HRMS further confirmed that the monthly casualty figure decreased earlier this year than last year.
But in May and June, it went up again due to a deadly attack on 27 June 2023 by Russia on an early evening missile strike on a busy shopping area in Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine, which caused the death of 13 civilians, including four children.
Ten civilian lives were taken a few days later when another missile was struck in the western city of Lviv, making the last couple of weeks more dangerous since the Russian-Ukraine war started.
As per the official data, people have been killed three times in these 500 days of the Russia-Ukraine war compared to the data of the last eight years of hostilities in eastern Ukraine.
