TikTok Fined By UK ICO
TikTok Fined by US Regulators of £12.7 Million for Misusing Children’s Data. On Tuesday, the Infomation Commissioner’s Office of the UK (ICO) announced a fine on the Chinese Platform Tiktok for several breaches of data protection law, including Children’s data misusing.
The Information Commissioner claimed that TikTok failed to get parental consent from the parents of children under 13 years to use this Platform. UK Information Commissioner, John Edwards, said some laws ensure the digital world is safe for children, as they are safe in the physical world. But, Tiktok failed to follow those rules.
TikTok granted access to around 1 million users under 13 years inappropriately without parental consent. TikTok collects and uses users’ data. Also, the Platform tracks them and delivers harmful content on every scroll.

Tiktok should know what they are doing and should need to do better. The TikTok Fine of £12.7 Million reflects what they had done wrong. They need to track before onboarding the users to the Platform and take action by removing them from the Platform if they are onboarded accidentally.
This announcement came on the same day when Australia banned TikTok from all government devices. India and Afghanistan completely banned Tiktok, but the US, Norway, Canada, EU, Uk, and New Zealand partially banned TikTok.
