PM Modi has made this pitch as he declared open the 141st IOC Session, where India will present its roadmap for hosting the sporting extravaganza. The IOC session will be hosted in India after a gap of 40 years. The last Olympic session was held in India in 1983 in New Delhi.
Mumbai won the bid to host the session when the delegation of India was led by Nita Ambani, the first-ever woman elected as an IOC member, and made a compelling pitch at the 139th IOC session in Beijing in February last year.
The session will be held in Mumbai at the state-of-the-art Jio World Convention Centre, and the grand theatre at NMACC – Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre will host the opening ceremony of the session.
PM Modi says that this Olympic session will be held in India after a gap of 40 years, and this is a very proud moment for India. India is well ready for the global sports session, and the world has already witnessed it at the G20 presidency of India.
