Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday where people remember and celebrate their loved ones who had died. It is not the same as Halloween, and people are saying that to make a point and to protect the tradition, value, and the special meaning of the celebration of the Día de los Muertos.

However, with time, many things are changing. Today, many things used in Halloween celebrations, like costumes, candies, and decorations, are mixing up with the celebration of the Day of The Dead. A thing that is making Día de los Muertos more like Halloween is that now the movies from Hollywood and characters from Disney are also becoming a big part of this.
A lot of people are not happy with that because they think that the original meaning of the celebration of Día de los Muertos has been lost now. But various other things that change are natural, and the mix of Halloween and the Day of the Dead is a new way to keep this tradition alive in a new way. That’s the main reason that, in some places, it is hard to say that there is any difference between the celebration of Halloween and the Día de los Muertos.
