Chinese Engineer Arrested For Disrespecting Allah
A Chinese Engineer from the China-Based Company Gezhouba Group was arrested from the Dasu hydropower project for a disrespectful comment on religion in at workplace during a heated argument. He was arrested after a group of prominent people rushed to the workplace for an attack for making a blasphemous remark.
The Engineer was detained at the police station in a remote Kohistan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to prevent a difficult situation.
According to the reports, the Pakistan laborers gathered outside of his office to attack him for insulting Allah in a heated conversation for the slow speed of work during fasting on the days of Ramadan.
For this comment, hundreds of men from nearby areas gathered and blocked a Karakoram Highway, which connects Pakistan to China, to protest against the Chinese Engineer.
According to locals, Aerial shots were fired to prevent the riot. Also, Local police and Paramilitary forces came to handle the situation.
Protesters moved after four hours when they assured the protestors that the Engineer would face legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the security of the Chinese officials who are working on the Dasu hydropower project has been tightened.
Blasphemy is a sensitive issue in the Muslim religion, where even unproven allegations can stir violence—the Punishment for this crime is from a fine to the death penalty.
