The pilot stated that when they went for a preflight procedure on Monday Morning then, the people at Worcester Airfield said that they had seen some cobra lying underneath of wing on Sunday Afternoon and tried to catch it themselves. Still, it was found that the Cobra had slithered away.
Further, Erasmus stated that he usually carries a water bottle with him during the flight and keeps it between his legs, and at one time when he suddenly gets a cold feeling, he thinks the water bottle might be dripping. Still, when he turned left and looked down, he founds the cobra putting its head back underneath his seat. Erasmus said for one moment he was stunned.
He was stunned but didn’t want to cause any panic by telling the passengers, but he thought that at some point, he had to aware the passengers of this thing. So he calmly said that he thought a snack might be underneath his seat and had to land the plane immediately. They were close to Welkom airport then, so he declared an emergency landing there.
He told the aircraft they had some unwelcomed guests in their plan, so they needed to go for an emergency landing. After the successful landing, all three passengers came out from the flight with the pilot. Before leaving, the pilot tried to roll the seat and found the snake underneath it. He tried to get some help from snake handlers when the team could arrive, but the cobra disappeared again.
Snake handlers tried to find the cobra but didn’t succeed. They also kept some food around the plan so the snake would come out, but it still did not.
However, people praised the pilot as he didn’t get panicked and handled the situation calmingly, saying he was a hero.
