The Char Dham Yatra 2024 ended on November 17, and the number of tourists visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath reached 30,87,417. This was the first season of the much-acclaimed Hindu pilgrimage. In Badrinath Dham, 14,35,341 devotees were recorded, while Kedarnath Dham recorded more footfall of 16,52,076 pilgrims. This has somewhat increased the footfall as supplemented by better management and improved physical structures, making Yatra management this year easier. The successful pilgrimage season ended up to its conclusion as the gates of Badrinath Dham were closed for the winter season.

Amongst them, Kedarnath Dham, Gangotri, Hemkund Sahib and Lokpal Laxman Temple had already completed their annual yatra rites and rituals this week early this month. Minister of administration and local authorities claimed that this year’s success stemmed from better weather, improved crowd control and sound measures against hooliganism. It may be seen that the Char Dham Yatra is important not only due to religious considerations but also to give local tourism and boost the economy.
The closure of the Yatra during winter can be understood owing to certain conditions, but now preparations for the next year’s Yatra are supposed to start soon with a view to providing an increasing number of pilgrims convenience and safety. Undoubtedly, Char Dham Yatra is still one of the most important religious pilgrimages in the Hindu religion, and the upcoming year of 2024 in terms of organizing the Yatra becomes the highest standard.
