The Health Minister of Israel has confirmed two cases of a new Covid-19 variant with unique characteristics from the earlier variants. It has been discovered the new Covid-19 variant may be a combination of BA.1 (Omicron) and BA.2 variants. The 2 cases with this new variant have been found upon the RT-PCR test of two patients after landing at Ben-Gurion International airport.

As per the Health Minister, both patients are in their 30s and have developed symptoms of headaches, fever, and muscle aches.
Professor Salman Zarka has defined the new virus as linking the two viruses BA.1 (Omicron) and BA.2 variants, which are an everyday phenomenon due to the presence of both variants in the same cell. Further, they formed a new virus type by multiplying and exchanging their characteristics. As per the reports, the case of new Covid-19 variants was discovered when there was a decline in the case of Omicron cases but an increase in the cases of the BA.2 Variant.
Prime Minister of Israel Naftali Bennett has met with the health minister of Israel, Professor Salman Zarka, to discuss this new type of virus and order strict instructions for the people to get all three doses and other gathering restrictions will be there.
Further reports have been said that 6310 people have tested positive with the Covid this week in Israel. Of these, 335 patients are seriously ill, and 151 are on the respirator.
