Former India cricketer turned commentator Dinesh Karthik has lavished praise on Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja for their great show in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. Though their counter-attacking formation put India in a good position, the opening day of the match was not so easy for the pair to handle. The Indian team was always on the back foot in the first half of the match as Bangladeshi bowlers bowled them out quickly.

However, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja came up with very good intent and started playing in a far more determined and confident manner and thus built a good developing partnership. Both of them not only made sure that there would always be a steady car for India but also prevailed in the balance in the home teams’ favour. On the final day, Dinesh Karthik heaped special praise on the two players’ skill in handling pressure.
He described them as being aggressive but more tactically oriented to overcome Bangladesh’s bowling. As stated by Karthik, their strategy was not restricted to making a lot of runs but also to make sure that India was strong enough to continue playing the game. Ashwin was classified as the universal player who batted properly, while Jadeja, an all-rounder, proved useful on this front as well. They both made it difficult for the Bangladeshi bowlers to get a breakthrough against them.
