Very heart-wrenching news of the Vadodara Boat Tragedy has come from Gujrat, where 16 people have died, including 14 children and two teachers, when their boat overturned in the Harni Lake on the outskirts of Vadodara.

As per the reports, all the students in the boat were from the New Sunrise School in Panigate who had come for the picnic with their teachers around 04:30 pm and boarded a boat. The boat had a sitting capacity of 16, but still, were 27 members on it. Whether all of them were wearing life jackets has not yet been clarified. Search and rescue operations are still going on as several students are still missing.
The boat was carrying 27 students accompanied by their teacher, who had come for the picnic. Locals have recused some students before the fire brigade and other safety staff arrived on the site; the Fire brigade has also rescued seven students.
Ranjanben Dhananjay Bhatt, the MP of Vadodara, has said that strict action would be taken against whoever is behind this mishap of the Vadodara boat tragedy as the boat was loaded beyond its capacity. All the injured students have been sent to different hospitals.
An ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from PMNRF has been announced for the next of kin of each deceased, and Rs. 50,000 has been announced for each injured one.
