He also accused the Congress party of not adopting the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee when it was in power; he said this government is supporting farmers as it promised. Accepting the opposition demands for legal assurance on MSP, Shivraj Singh Chouhan elaborated on setting up a committee to enhance the MSP mechanism, saying that it has convened six meetings. The recommendations provided will be somewhere considered by the government once they have been submitted.
He also criticized the opposition parties for politicizing farmer-related matters, and the minister for agriculture said that serving farmers is nothing less than worship for the government. While the opposition was interrupting the session, they called for even stronger and more specific guarantees and questioned the government’s approaches to MSP alterations. This announcement highlights the seriousness of the union government’s protection of farmers’ interests by fixing fair prices for their produce, which was highlighted during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.
