The police have not wasted time acting in the case by launching an investigation under sections 308(4) and 351(3)(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita regarding crimes of extortion and criminal intimidation. Initial investigations have linked the call to a mobile number linked to one Faizan Khan of Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to obtain additional information on the location and actions of the caller, tending to determine whether it was Faizan Khan himself who called or his identity was impersonated.
This has raised security issues for Shah Rukh Khan, who has received similar threats because of his fame in the past. Due to the seriousness of the threat, police protection at Khan’s house has been increased. The police are still investigating for any other possible reasons or link to this demand for ransom with the assurance of providing the required security + protection to the actor.
