Before the MAHA Assembly polls, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP are facing disagreement on seat sharing. The dispute is on 15 significant constituencies, and Congress has refused to vacate those seats for the grossing Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT). Both have seen these seats as very important and, hence, have reached an impasse that has made the negotiations go up to the national level in Delhi. Sharad Pawar held meetings with the people of both the party’s senior leaders to address this problem.

Aaditya Thackeray, a young and energetic Shiv Sena, also tried to meet Sharad Pawar to negotiate the situation. Even with these attempts, there is a stalemate. As a result of such an eventuality, Congress has already drawn strategies for fighting for 150-160 seats in future elections, a figure way above the proposed 110-120. This strategy is designed so that Congress will be ready for a larger game in case the conflict persists.
The next general elections are due on November 20.2024, with polling results to be released on November 23.2024 are significant for the MVA alliance and particularly important in view of increasing BJP and allied forces backing. There are external pressures for both sides to resolve their disputes because protracted conflict harms the common interests of the alliance and serves the interests of the rival parties. This will definitely affect the alliance in the politically sensitive areas in Maharashtra, which will be influenced by this internal disagreement.
