This celestial event is expected to last around 4 minutes when the Sun’s rays form a 75 mm Surya Tilak on Ram Lalla’s forehead. So how this is possible, let’s talk about it.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust collaborated with a team of scientists from the Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee, to determine the exact timing of the sun’s movements. Thus, based on this timing, the trust used an optomechanical system with high-quality mirrors for this Surya Tilak of Ram Lalla.
A mirror has been installed on the top floor of the temple, and when the sun rays fall on that mirror, with the help of three lenses, those rays will be directed to another mirror on the second floor, and thus, in the end, will fall on the forehead of the Ram Lalla.
This unique ritual was inspired by PM Modi’s visit to Ram Mandir on 23 October 2022. PM Modi then suggested that the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Mandir should be constructed so that the sunlight falls directly on the forehead of the idol of Ram Lalla on Ram Navmi.
