Jagjit Singh Dallewal, farmers’ leader, has said they are ready for the talks with the central government. Union Minister Anurag Thakur also said in his statement that the center is ready to talk with farmers and resolve the issue. Still, till now, farmers have not received any invitation from the center for any meeting.
Dallewal also criticized the administration for the police action against the farmers at the Shambu border amidst the farmers’ protest. And they denied allegations that farmers had pelted stones at the security forces. Till now, two meetings have been held between farmer leaders and the center, first with Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Arjun Munda, and Nityanand Rai and second with Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Arjun Munda in Chandigarh, but neither of them has reached any conclusion.
So farmer unions have continued Delhi Chalo March to put more pressure on the central government to accept their demands, which include law on minimum support price for crops, loan waivers, Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations, pensions for farmers and farm laborers, farm debt waiver, reinstate the Land Acquisition Act 2013, withdrawal of police cases and justice for victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, withdraw from the World Trade Organisation, and compensation for families of the farmers who died during the previous agitation,
But as the government has tried all the means to stop farmers from reaching Delhi, farmers have devised a new plan and announced a Rail Roko Protest for tomorrow between 12:00 PM and 04:00 PM to support this ongoing farmers’ protest.
