North Korea has launched over 200 artillery shells into the sea near the borders of South Korea, which led to evacuation orders for two islands due to unspecified reasons.

The Ministry of Defense has not cleared the reason behind the evacuation, whether it is because of the artillery firing by North Korea or South Korean drills. As per the request of South Korea’s military, the evacuation process has been started at Yeonpyeong Island, which is just south of the disputed Northern Limit Line. However, the artillery fire by North Korea has not caused any damage to South Korea yet.
Apart from Yeonpyeong, the residents of Baengnyeong Island have also been instructed to evacuate as per the reports by locals.
Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea have said that the North side has fired over 200 Artillery shells into the sea near the border of South Korea and violated the 2018 military agreement.
