The cosmetic procedure in China includes “Mickey Mouse ears,” ear cropping, tail docking, and dying of their fur. However, pet surgery is not illegal in China. However, are we doing the right things for the animals? Big and reputed hospitals are not performing these types of surgeries on the animals, but dog kennels and breeding facilities are still doing it commonly.
Recently, a pet hospital from Chongqing in southwestern China got a lot of backlash after it advertised a discount on the “Mickey Mouse Ears.” They also offered a discount of $40 and said that the discount rate would depend upon the factory’s production schedule.
So, what is the procedure for this trending Mickey Ears in China? First, the animals undergo surgery using anesthesia for at least 30 minutes, and then in the next phase, ears are shaped to stay upright. This process can take anywhere between 20 days to 60 days.
As per reports, most pet owners who forced their pets into this Mickey Mouse ear surgery include young women influenced by the so-called beauty standards of online influencers.
