PM Modi further says that this reduction in the LPG cylinder Price will ease the financial burden on millions of households and benefit our Nari Shakti. By making LPG cylinders affordable, we aim to support the well-being of families nationwide and ensure a healthier environment. This is one more way towards our commitment to ensuring ease of living for women and empowering them.
The government also increased the subsidy of 14.2 kg LPG cylinders from Rs. 200 to Rs. 300 up to 12 refills earlier last year. That subsidy policy applies to the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31st.
However, the government announced a few days back that they are extending this Rs. 300 subsidy policy for one more year under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for the 2024-25 session. The subsidy will be limited to 12 refills in FY25, and the expenditure for the scheme has been estimated at Rs. 12,000 crores. Subsidies under the PMUY will be directly credited to the bank accounts of the eligible users.
