Jay Shah, the current Secretary of the BCCI board, has been appointed unopposed as the new Chairperson of the International Cricket Council (ICC). It’s a huge step in his career as he takes on one of the coveted roles in world cricket. The ICC made the announcement on Tuesday, and Shah is set to officially assume his new assignment on 1st December.

Shah succeeds Greg Barclay as ICC Chair, but last month, the New Zealander announced he would be relinquishing his position in November. Greg Barclay became the Chairman of ICC in 2020 and has matched it with a difficult time when there was so much to demonstrate new challenging situations like COVID-19. So, the exit of Manu Sawhney paves the way for new leadership, and perhaps Jay Shah will herald a fresh chapter in ICC.
