At least five people have been reported dead and 500 others injured, and many houses were also damaged due to the storm hitting two places in the Jalpaiguri of north Bengal on Sunday Afternoon. CM of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has canceled all her plans and reached Jalpaiguri on Sunday night.

She has also visited the Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital to meet with the people affected by the Jalpaiguri storm. The storm hit the village around 3:30 p.m. and lasted 10 minutes. Mamata Banerjee, while speaking with the media, said a disaster occurred, which caused five deaths, hundreds of injuries, and many houses to be damaged. At the same time, two other people are in serious condition.
CM assured that the government is doing everything possible to help the victims and provide all the necessary help.
Over 200 people were injured in the Jalpaiguri Storm and rushed to Maynaguri Hospital. One hundred seventy were admitted to the Jalpaiguri Medical College and Hospital, and 100 were treated at the Barnesh Health Centre. Similar to the Jalpaiguri Storm, the storm has hit two adjacent districts, Aliupurduar and Cooch Behar districts, but luckily no causality has been reported from these two districts.
PM Modi also condoled the loss of lives due to this Jalpaiguri Storm on Sunday and said that he has asked the officials to ensure proper assistance to people in need.
