Did you ever think that a birthday cake can take anyone’s life? Recently, an incident was reported from Punjab where a 10-year-old girl, Manvi, died after eating a cake Baked Using a High Amount of Artificial Sweetener on her birthday.

The incident has been reported from Patiala, Punjab, where the whole family fell ill after eating the chocolate cake ordered online from a bakery, Cake Kanha, on the birthday of their 10-year-old girl on 24 March 2024. After investigation, it was found that the bakery used a large amount of artificial sweetener in that cake.
After a sample of the cake was analyzed, it contained a high amount of saccharine, a sweet-tasting synthetic compound.
Dr. Vijay Jindal, District Health Officer, has said that a meager amount of saccharine can be used in food and drinks, but a high amount can lead to a sudden spike in blood glucose levels.
An FIR has already been registered against the baker’s owner. The police officials said they would take strict action against the bakery owner and fine the bakery.
