The areas near the Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts have witnessed heavy rainfall due to Cyclone Michaung starting Monday morning. IMD – India Meteorological Department has predicted that, within the next 24 hours, the city and its neighboring districts will face more heavy rainfall, so the officials have directed the schools and courts closer.

The government has enforced Chennai’s National Disaster Security Forces and the State Disaster Security Forces. The NDSF has rescued over 15 people stuck in the Tambaram area near Perungalathur and Peerkankaranai due to waterlogging due to the heavy rainfall.
Further, Bridge Number 14 between the Basin Bridge and Vyasarpadi has been suspended for safety concerns if water logging flows above the danger level. Apart from this, six trains have also been canceled, including Chennai – Mysuru Shatabdi Express, Coimbatore Kovai Express, Coimbatore Shatabdi Express, KSR Bengaluru Brindavan Express, KSR Bengaluru AC Double Decker Express, Tirupati Sapthagiri Express, and 14 Subways has also been closed due to the heavy waterlogging.
Due to the Cyclone Michaung, several city areas are witnessing the power outrage. IMD has also released the list of the areas that have got more than 100mm of rainfall; the area includes Valasaravakkam (154.2 mm), Sholinganallur (125.7 mm), Kodambakkam (123.3 mm), Meenambakkam (108 mm) and Nungambakkam (101.7 mm).
Cyclone Michaung has also affected the neighboring areas of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur with heavy rainfall.
