With Cyclone Dana now threatening Odisha and West Bengal, authorities are getting into alarm. Severe weather has consisted of extensive rainfall, strong winds and floods; such conditions have interfered with normal life by causing the shutdown of schools in some regions. Currently, 30 teams with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been mobilized in both states to help with rescue and acts of relief. People have begun to be evacuated, especially those living near the shore, for fear of Cyclone Dana.

The administration of Odisha and West Bengal is in close coordination to work to avoid loss, and necessary precautionary measures like relief shelters are also arranged. Some roads have been closed because of fallen trees and water logs, and this has also affected the flow of aid. However, the government is working around the clock to keep communication networks open to ensure that necessary support is delivered to the affected regions. In West Bengal, major rivers like Damodar and Subarnarekha are being closely watched for signs of flooding as more rain pours in.
On the other hand, the inhabitants of the coastal areas in the state of Odisha are extremely vulnerable to getting their structures wholly or partially destroyed due to destructive winds and tidal waves. Both states are on high alert, with people advised to remain indoors and follow the safety measures instructed by governors. The meteorological department has forecasted that cyclone Dana would deepen and increase the possibility of landslides, flash floods, and other damage to property.
