When the rescue team learned about this incident, they rushed to the scene and started the rescue work using torches and flashlights on their mobile phones. There are chances that the death toll may rise as the rescue team finds it difficult to locate the people stuck in the mining pit due to the darkness in the pit.
According to reports, the bus contained workers from the private distillery in Durg, Chhattisgarh, who were returning home from work but were involved in an accident last night near the Khapri on the outskirts of Durg.
Police are still investigating the matter and are unsure why and how the driver lost control of the bus, but the bus went off the road and crashed into a mural mining pit. The darkness and the slippery murum slope posed some difficulties for the police and the rescue team, but they still managed to pull out some workers and work on finding others. The injured ones have been sent to the hospital.
Eleven people were declared dead on the spot upon arrival, and three others were declared dead within minutes, while the six other survivors are in critical condition.
