Kolhapur, August 30, 2024 Chetan Patil, a structural consultant involved in the recent collapse of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue in the Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra, was arrested late Thursday night. Later, the police arrested Patil from Kolhapur and took him to Sindhudurg for investigation. The statue which is a powerful representation in the region fell earlier this week and this has raised many questions concerning the quality of the artwork. Local authorities did not waste any time conducting an investigation to establish the cause of the collapse, and this led to the filing of an FIR against several individuals, among them Patil.

As per the police, since Patil worked as a structural consultant, he was in the middle of the case as per the police. He was also in charge of the management of structural concerns of the statue. Police think that the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj could have collapsed due to negligence or even poor workmanship. It can be seen that the arrest of the accused, Patil, is quite a breakthrough in the case.
