Charlie Munger, the longtime friend and business partner of Warren Buffett, one of the most popular US investors, died on Tuesday at 99.
Charlie Munger Passes Away at 99
Berkshire Hathaway, where Munger has worked for over ten years as Vice Chairman under Buffett, has announced that Munger’s family has confirmed that he died peacefully at California Hospital on Tuesday morning.
Warren Buffett has also shown sorrow for his death and said that Berkshire Hathaway would not have reached the point that it is currently without the wisdom, inspiration, and participation of Charlie Munger.
Buffett and Charlie both lived in Omaha, Nebraska, and they met each other in 1959. They have gotten into a beautiful friendship that has lasted more than 60 years. Charlie joined Berkshire Hathaway as vice chairman under Warren Buffett in 1978 and helped it transform from a small textile company to a gigantic conglomerate, which is currently valued at more than $780 billion.
Charlie Munger has not officially retired from his role at Berkshire Hathaway and would have turned 100 on 01 January 2024. In an interview in 2017, Warren Buffett praised Charlie Munger for changing his point of view to invest for the better. He further said that Charlie and I both have solid minds, and we have not argued even once, and we never will.
