The conductor has been identified as Honnappa Nagappa Agasar, the bus conductor of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). The incident happened on 26 March 2024, during a routine bus journey between Bilekahalli and Shivajinagar.
In the video, the conductor is first seen verbally arguing with some lady passengers. That argument takes a heated turn, and the lady passenger slaps the bus conductor. Then, Honnappa becomes angry and starts physically attacking Tanzula Ismail Peerzade in retaliation. He slaps her so many times that, in the end, she falls.
Honnappa stated that the argument was all about issuing the bus ticket. He said that Tanzula Ismail Peerzade boarded the bus at Billekahalli and was seeking free travel, and when he asked her to provide him with her Aadhaar card, she didn’t do that. Upon asking two to three times, he asked her to pay for the ticket if she did not have an Aadhaar card, which led to a verbal argument.
