The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project implementing agency, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), said this on Tuesday while updating on the status of noise barrier works along the train route. These barriers are an important consideration towards the accomplishment of quiet zone limit that seeks to eliminate noise from the bullet train as well as its structures during use.

As per the data available in the press release of NHSRCL, till September 10, the noise barriers have been constructed at 87 %. Of the Bullet Train Corridor between MMR & A Montgomery for a distance of 5 Kilometers. About barriers: Up to now, more than 1,75,000 barriers have been erected in Gujarat. These barriers are intended to ensure that the noise produced by the high-speed train will not interfere with the communities close to it once the trains are in operation.
The construction of noise barriers is one of the many processes being undertaken to ensure that the bullet train project is the most sustainable project one could ever think of. This train is already being expected to be a revolutionary one in the Indian transportation system because of the faster connectivity of Mumbai and Ahmedabad. But with any massive structure that is being constructed, there is always the question of how it affects the region and the NHSRCL is not leaving this unchecked.
With this kind of noise barrier in place, the NHSRCL wants to suppress the noise produced by the train so that it will not be a source of excessive inconvenience to the residents around the train tracks. The foundation of the Mumbai- Ahmedabad bullet train project is currently being laid with a plan for its completion in the coming years. This project will be implemented as the first high-speed rail line in India; however, upon completion of this line, travel time between the two cities will be considerably reduced.
