Although the previous expedition did not provide any results, Tony Romeo, the founder of the South Carolina-based sea exploration company Deep Sea Vision, is now convinced that his team might have found the outline of Amelia Earhart’s iconic Lockheed 10-E Electra. They have revealed some sonar images of the discovery from the Pacific Ocean, and it is believed that this could be the iconic Lockheed 10-E Electra of Amelia Earhart, which disappeared around 87 years ago during her around-the-world flight.
The company shared the details of this operation through their Instagram account on 27 January 2024, stating that they have used Kongsberg Discovery HUGIN 6000, which is the most advanced and unmanned underwater drone that can map 5200 square miles of ocean bottom with the crew of 16 persons. This underwater exploration has led to the discovery of the decade-old mystery of the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, which is still a matter of interest for various explorers and researchers.
Various conspiracy theories related to this mystery were presented, and one of them was from a History Channel. In 2017, they had a documentary that said that Earhart and Noonan had survived the crash and found their way to the Marshall Islands. Still, they had been captured by the Japanese. Apart from this, the documentary even speculated that the US government was aware of the fate of the aviators from the very beginning.
