ED officials reached Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan’s house, where they wanted to arrest him. In a money laundering case related to the Delhi Waqf Board, Khan has been taken under investigation by the ED at the moment. Khan also tweeted that the ED had come to his house to arrest him, although there is nothing new about the case. He also said that he agreed with the stand that the actions being taken against him were politically motivated and that the overall campaign was to persecute AAP leaders. This money laundering case is connected to the alleged discrepancy in management of the Delhi Waqf Board, for which Amanatullah Khan is the chairman.

The central agency has been investigating Amanatullah Khan in the case for quite some time now, focusing on the financial transactions of the board and other things like that. Khan, who is a member of parliament for the Okhla constituency, has vehemently denied any wrongdoing in the past. He further stated that the charges preferred against him were the figment of the opponents’ imagination with a view of muddying his image and that of his party. As per him, the ED’s actions are a continuation of a strategy to threaten the AAP leadership and prevent her/him from working.
Following the actions of the ED, several AAP leaders defended Amanatullah Khan while calling the move as an act of misuse of the central agencies to target political rivals. They have demanded that the process be objective and impartial and most importantly free from political influence. This could be the recent tackles between AAP leaders and the central agencies, with the party repeatedly making allegations that the central government uses investigative agencies to silence political opponents.
