Ten terrorists from the group entered Mumbai, India, via sea on 26 November 2008 to conduct the Mumbai Terror Attacks, which claimed the lives of 166 people and injured over 300 people. Let’s learn how these Pakistani terrorists carried out that attack.

As per reports, ten terrorists from Karachi, Pakistan, departed on the evening of 21 November 2008 to conduct those Mumbai terror attacks, and after spending 38 hours traveling, they were able to go undetected by the Indian Navy. All these ten terrorists had received 06-07 magazines of 30 rounds, each with 400 rounds, which had not been loaded in magazines, while also equipped with hand grenades, an automatic loading revolver, an AK-47 assault refile, credit cards, and a supply of dried fruits.

On 23 November 2008, they were able to hijack an Indian trawler, The Kuber, by killing four fishermen. After that, they compelled the captain to sail towards India to initiate the Mumbai Terror Attacks. On 26 November 2008, when the Kuber reached the area of 7 kilometers from Mumbai, terrorists killed the captain of the Kuber. Then, they start advancing towards Colaba jetty using three inflatable speedboats.

They reached around 08:10 pm at Macchimar Nagar of Mumbai’s Cuffe Parade neighborhood. Out of 10 terrorists, six disembark there, and the remaining four continue sailing towards the shore. When questioned by the residents, they pretend to be students.

After 20 minutes, around 08:30 PM, another group disembarks at Badhwar Park in Colaba, Cuffe Parade. When asked by Marathi Fishermen about their occupation, they told them to mind their own business and then split in different directions.

Then, the noise of gunshots was reported at Leopold Cafe, which resulted in the killing of 10 people and several injuries, including reports from Reuters. Meanwhile, they also planted bombs in 2 taxis, which caused the death of 5 people and injured 15.

After that, four terrorists entered the Taj Hotel, 2 in Nariman House and 2 in Oberoi Trident, while the other 2, Ajmal Kasab and Ismail, took a taxi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus around 09:20 pm, Kasab and Ismail, who were armed with AK-47 and AK74U rifles, initiated the assault at CSMT, which resulted in the death of 58 people and injury of 104 people.

Around 10:30 pm, as per IST, Cama Hospital headed to the Cama Hospital, where hospital staff tried to lock the rooms of the patients while they saw terrorists approaching them. There, ATS chief Hemant Karkare and three other officers were killed during the counterfight. This terrorist then hijacked a jeep but later was intercepted by the Girgaum Chowpatty by the Gamdevi police, where Ismail was killed while Kasab was arrested.

On 28 November 2008, a commando operation was started at the Oberoi Hotel to control the Mumbai Terror attacks, where 24 bodies were recovered, and 143 hostages were rescued alive by neutralizing two terrorists. Around 07:30 pm, NSG commandos were deployed at the roof of Nariman House via fast rope, and snippets were stationed in a nearby building to cover those commands.

Then, commands rescued all six hostages from there. After an hour, at 08:30 pm, after engaging in a gunfight with the terrorists, commandos were able to eliminate the two terrorists and declare control of the Nariman House.

On 29 November 2008. Around 08:00 am, commandos also announced control back over the Taj Hotel while continuing the room-to-room search, and at 04:20 pm, the Taj Hotel was declared under complete government control.

So that’s how the Mumbai Terror Attacks were planned by the Pakistani terrorists, which resulted in chaos in the nation. With the help of Indian security forces, they were able to get control back and restrict those Mumbai terror attacks. Otherwise, it could go further and result in more lives and terror in the city.
