The 18-year-old was from the Borkheda area of Kota and was preparing for the JEE – Joint Entrance Examination. This incident shows how an innocent student must endure a lot of exam pressure.
The student was found hanging in her residence. Her family quickly took action and tried to admit her to a nearby hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The police have started an investigation and asked for a post-mortem to determine the exact reasons for this heartbreaking incident.
The police have also found a suicide note from her, which says that.”Mummy, Papa, I can’t do JEE. So, I suicide. I am loser. I worst daughter. Sorry Mummy, Papa. This is the last option.”
As per the initial investigation, police said the 18-year-old was living with her father in Kota, working in a bank. She has been studying for 07-08 hours a day but still feels overwhelmed by the pressure of the competitive exams.
This news comes just a couple of days after another student, Mohammed Zaid, also ended his life due to the pressure of his studies. Zaid was from Moradabad, UP, and was gearing up for the NEET entrance examination in Kota. But he also could not bear the pressure of his studies and ended his life some days before.
Last year, there was a spike in suicide cases in Kota. For that, the central government has also issued some orders for the coaching institutes to take steps to relieve the study pressure from the students and to safeguard students from depression and study stress. But still, the effectiveness of those guidelines has remained a subject of debate.
Dr. Bharat Singh Shekhawat, the head of the psychiatry department at Kota Medical College, says that students have been sent to Kota at a very young age of 15 or 16. Thus, they did not get a chance to enjoy their school life, like having the benefits of friendship or extracurricular activities. Instead of that, they got a lot of study pressure, which forced them to take this type of horrible step to end their life.
