In India, many people ignore renewing their PUC certificates, and to teach them a lesson, a new automatic traffic challenge system is under development. If you also haven’t renewed your PUC certificate, you still have some time before the introduction of this new system to renew your pollution-under-control certificates.
This new system will use cameras at petrol pumps to track the vehicle registration numbers. Any vehicle that enters the petrol pump will be scrutinized. The system will automatically start to check for a valid pollution certificate. If you have an expired PUC certificate, a fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed instantly, and you will get an alert on your mobile number.
However, steps are also taken to send proper reminders to people to renew their certificates before the expiry date. This new traffic challan system aims to streamline pollution law enforcement and offer a grace period before imposing a fine.
