The researchers found this new scorpion species when they were campaigning near the Tenasserim Mountain Range and found this scorpion under a rock. A detailed study on this finding has been published in ZooKeys,
This new species belongs to the subgenus Euscopiops and has been named the Euscorpiops Krachan after the national park of Thailand. The study found that this new scorpion species has more features than any other scorpion of the subgenus Euscorpiops. It is also tiny compared to the other species of the subgenus and has eight eyes and eight legs.
These scorpions are brownish, but the females are slightly darker than the males. Until now, it has been believed that all the scorpion species found in Thailand are endemic to their habitats, and they can be found mainly in mountain areas, especially in places with numerous rock crevices.
