A powerful earthquake of 7.6 magnitudes hit central Japan on 1 January 2024, which led further to the warning of possible tsunami waves. Officials have urged the locals to move to the higher areas immediately. National broadcaster NHK has said that everyone must evacuate immediately after the earthquake hit the Noto region in the Ishikawa prefecture.

It has been reported that Tsunami waves are possible within 300 kilometers of the quake-affected area near the Japanese coast. The wave of 1.2 meters was confirmed in Wajima City of Ishikawa.
Due to the series of quakes in central Japan, various Highways have been suspended for Monday. The Shinkansen bullet train, which goes between Tokyo and the epicenter in the Noto region, has also been canceled.
Furthermore, the Indian Embassy has set up a control room for anyone to connect with the help of the Tsunami and quake. The agency has provided various helpline numbers and emails for assistance with the quake and waves.
