Hardik Pandya has been traded to MI from GT ahead of IPL 2024, and many people thought he would play Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. However, the news of Pandya replacing Sharma for the MI captaincy has shocked many cricket fans.
Aakash Chopra has recently revealed his views on these captaincy changes. He said it was my understanding, and not inside news, that while trading Pandya to MI, it might have been part of the deal, and the decision would have been communicated to Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma has also been informed about the plans of the MI, and Ashish Nehra would have played a crucial role in electing Pandya as captain. So Mumbai’s job has been cut out, and they need more inputs at different levels for Pandya to replicate them on the field because, as per Aakasah Chopra, Pandya, as the captain, is not a finished product yet.
Then, Chopra moves on to the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, talking about his contribution to the team. He said that Rohit Sharma is a legend who led the team for ten years, and under his leadership, the team has won the IPL trophy five times. But from the last two years, the performance of MI was on average, and there is a time when you have to look at the team’s future. Giving someone a chance at the right time is essential, but choosing when to let someone go is more important.
Rohit Sharma has not commented on Hardik Pandya being elected as the captain of MI yet.
