The income tax department has raided various places in Odisha linked to the Baldeo Sahu and Group of Companies Ltd, which is a country liquor company run and owned by the family of the MP of the Congress Rajya Sabha, Dhiraj Sahu, for the reports of the tax evasion in this Congress MP Raid Case.
Congress, which has not commented on this matter, recently broke its silence and kept it apart from the Sahu. It said that Congress has nothing to do with the business run by the Sahu. It is Sahu who will and should answer for this.
The raid was conducted simultaneously at various locations of Titlagarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Bhubaneswar in Odisha and in a few places in Jharkhand. From the 30 locations related to the Baldeo Sahu and Group of Companies Ltd, 176 bags filled with cash have been seized and sent to the Balangir branch of SBI for counting. Now, roughly 100 bags have been counted, and the cash count is expected to go around Rs. 300 crores. SBI is arranging some more machines and staffers to escalate the process.
They have arranged around 16 more machines, and around 40-50 staff members are counting the seized money. This is the biggest ever collection from a single raid by the IT department till now.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also taken a dig into this Congress MP raid case and said to look at these piles of notes and now listen to their honest speeches. He added that whatever has been looted from the public, every penny will be recovered; this is Modi’s guarantee.
