The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has advised various social media platforms on using Deepfake videos and the penalties that can be imposed on the creator and those sharing those videos.
The controversy has been started after a video became viral on social media. Earlier, it was understood that this video belonged to Actress Rashmika Mandanna, who was seen entering an elevator. Still, later on, it was found that the video had been linked to British-Indian influencer Zara Patel, who used some artificial technology to make this deepfake video.
The actress has shared her fear on social media about how this technology can damage the sentiments and emotions of people.
Several big people, including Amitabh Bachan, have come forward on this matter of Rashmika’s Deepfake video and asked for legal action. After that, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who is the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology has shared on the social media platform ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter, that the “Narendra Modi government is committed to ensuring safety and trust for Indians.”
